Active Manuka Honey a humble product introduced to the world by New Zealand is now proving to be an excellent product for the treatment of many debilitating ailments and proving to be effective in depleting bacterial growththan just about every anti-biotic known to man with little to no side effects.

Active Manuka Honey has long been used by people in New Zealand for the treatment of many minor ailments such as scrapes, abrasions and mild infections as standard honeys were once used. Though it was always known there was something special about Manuka Honey which made it far superior it healed wounds faster treated infections more effectively and assisted in reducing scaring.

Honey was long used for its medicinal purposes it offered a mild cleansing properties and a light but effective anti-bacterial component. Although this would seem this is why Manuka Honey is so effective in killing bacteria either of these products alone harness the same properties. It is only when the active manuka honey is produced it can defeat every harmful micro organism known to man.

Dr Peter Moran was the leading pioneer who released this product to the world. Dedicating 20 years of his life to scientific research and clinical trails he questioned and answered the exact capabilities of this product though struggled to answer exactly why this was. He proved that this product was actually more capable and more powerful than what we first thought though he also discovered that not all batches of the honey harnessed the same levels of activity.

This was devised by testing the honey antibacterial activity when compared to common anti-bacterial ingredients such as phenol or carbolic. ie a 15+ UMF would harnessed the powers of at least a solution of 15% phenol.
Research to this day is still being conducted into Manuka Honey. With threats of anti biotic resistant bacteria causing havoc throughout the hospitals Manuka Honey is now being used treat cases of MRSA and other nasty super bugs. Although it’s not entirely clear as to why Active Manuka Honey is so effective the results are continuously speaking for themselves.
